POSITION TITLE: Youth Minister
SUPERVISOR: Pastor & Staff-Parish Relations Committee
JOB TYPE: Part-time (8-10 hours/week on/off site).
PURPOSE: To create a safe, inviting environment so that students will experience the love of God and grow in discipleship.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be a committed follower of Jesus Christ with beliefs that align with a Methodist understanding and practice.
- Must follow and support Ministry Safe guidelines.
- Able relate appropriately to youth and parents of diverse backgrounds
- Must maintain high standards of confidentiality.
- Must have attained at least a high school diploma or GED
- Must promote unity amongst church members, staff, and volunteers
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinate the youth group, RIOT, and youth Sunday School
- Recruit, train, and coordinate adult volunteers/mentors for youth
- Meet with the youth group weekly throughout the school year and as needed during the summer.
- Attend community events including school, athletic, and extra-curricular activities
- Foster and grow individual relationships with students, parents, and volunteers
- Provide opportunities for 2-3 retreats/events per year
- Provide at least 1 mission/service opportunity per year
- Work within a required budget and account for all expenditures
- Coordinate annual confirmation classes with Pastor
- Willingly perform other related duties as requested
